Destruction of Residential Houses in South Tehran Protested, Statement by
The Press Office of the People's Mojahedin of Iran - Paris, August 6

According to the reports from Iran, the Khomeini regime has razed the
residential housings in Nafar-abad and Hashem-abad neighborhoods in
Shahr-e-Ray (south of Tehran).
        The regime has neither provided substitute housing for the
residents, nor enough funds for them to find new housing on their own.
        Residents have protested the regime's measure at Shahr-e-Ray
municipality. In the past two weeks, they have continuously held gatherings
in front of the municipality whose agents destroyed their houses.


"Freedom" Finds its Way to Iran, Iran Zamin, August 3

        The speech of the Resistance's President-elect, Maryam Rajavi,
entitled "Freedom," which was broadcast live via satellite for the
gathering of 15,000 in Dortmund, Germany, and into Iran, created a wave of
excitement and inspiration in the country.  In Particular, "The Charter of
Fundamental Freedoms in Iran of Tomorrow," which Mrs. Rajavi announced in
her speech, has heartened the people with the hope for a free Iran.
        According to the Bulletin of Mojahedin Command Headquarters Inside
Iran, the text of this speech are reproduced and distributed by fellow
compatriots and the Resistance forces in various parts of the country.  The
audio and video recordings of this speech are also reproduced and change
hands.


U.S. Sanctions Beginning to Effect, BBC, August 3

        Iran's economic crisis which has intensified after the announcement
of recent U.S. sanctions, has already caused recess in portions of the
country's economy.
        Non-petroleum exports are almost halted and the imports to the
country have been severely reduced.  At the same time, the productions of
industrial factories are endangered and in response to the expressed
concerns by a group of Iranian parliamentarians in this regard, the
government has kept quiet...


Mullahs, Loosing Grounds, Mullahs' state-run Radio, August 5

        Leader of Friday Prayers in city of  Kermanshah [West Iran]: "Some
people are so indifferent...  A friend of mine was visiting here.  He
arrived at noon, when bazaar was closed.  He was very pleased, thinking
that the stores were closed for prayer.  He waited a while, and realized
that the stores were closed not for going to public prayer.  rather they
passed the mosques and went to their homes.
        I was meeting in presence of Khamenei, his representative in Gilan
province [northern Iran], Ehsanbakhsh, said: sir I have ordered the stores
in bazaar to close at noon prayers.  We request his excellency to order the
bazaars throughout the country to close down for noon prayer.  He did not
find that wise...
