Secretary of State Warren Christopher, addressing the opening session of the General Assembly, said.... states sponsoring terrorists should feel the full weight of sanctions imposed by the international community.... "Let us not deceive ourselves: Every dollar that goes into the government coffers of a state sponsor of terrorism such as Iran helps pay for a terrorist's bullets or bombs," Christopher said. "Iran's role as the foremost state sponsor of terrorism makes its secret quest for weapons of mass destruction even more alarming," he said. "We must stand together to prevent Iran from acquiring such threatening capabilities." The Iranian foreign minister accused the United States of acting as both judge and policeman of the world. He urged Secretary Christopher to back off -- calling the U.S. attitude arrogant... Iran Still Opposed to Peace Process, Associated Press, September 25 Several Middle Eastern countries today criticized an Israeli-PLO accord to expand Palestinian autonomy.... Iranian radio, monitored by the British Broadcasting Corp., accused Arafat of selling out the Palestinians. "Arafat has moved another step away from the Palestinian people and their aspirations," the radio said.... Libya and Iran view the Jewish state as an evil entity which must be destroyed.
