Police units, including undercover agents arrested 870 young men for disregarding Islamic standards of behavior or verbally molesting girls, he said. Several police stations were overflowing with arrested youths, some also held for having long hair, a young man who was himself held for questioning told Reuters. Language Ban in Iran, Associated Press, October 3 TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran's parliament banned all government offices and institutions Tuesday from using foreign terminology in official correspondence. The ban is in line with efforts to resist Western influence, which Iran's clerical Muslim government fears is corrupting the values of the 1979 Islamic revolution. The Majlis, or parliament, voted to "eliminate all alien" terms from official documentation, Tehran radio reported. Last year, the government banned the use of satellite dishes to prevent Iranians from watching Western television programs and to control the West's "cultural onslaught." Kurdish rebels say Mullahs' regime executed supporter, Reuters, October 3 NICOSIA, October 3 (Reuter) - An Iranian Kurdish opposition group said on Tuesday that Iran had executed one of its supporters, bringing to 10 the number of rebel Kurds it says have been killed in the past few weeks. The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan said Rashid Abubakri, arrested on suspicion of cooperating with the group, was hanged on September 21. The report could not be independently confirmed. The party said in late September that six of its supporters were executed by a firing squad in Orumiyeh. It said earlier three of its supporters died as a result of torture in Iranian prisons.
