Regime's "Conditional" Acceptance of U.N. Human Rights
Representative, Reuters, December 4

TEHRAN - Iran has agreed to admit a new U.N. human rights
envoy, ending a four-year-old ban on visits by human rights missions
from the world body, newspapers said on Monday....
The newspaper Iran News quoted Yazdi as saying Iran would
allow the commission's new representative, replacing Salvadorian
lawyer Reynaldo Galindo Pohl, to visit Iran "with the sole condition
that (his) report...must be based on 'facts.'"
Tehran had refused to admit Galindo Pohl for the past four years,
accusing him of issuing biased reports based on unsubstantiated data
obtained from opposition and other foreign sources.
The United Nations has in the past decade repeatedly censured
Iran for widespread violations of human rights, in resolutions mainly
based on Galindo Pohl's reports.

Public Shuns Clerics, Friday Prayers Deserted, Kermanshah radio,
December 2

Zarandi, representative of Khamenei in Kermanshah (west Iran),
said in Friday prayers sermon: Those who do not pay attention to
Friday prayers are the wrong people. They have repulsive faces...
According to some traditions if a believer did not attend the Friday
prayers without any excuse, he is a hypocrite... The worst face, is the
face of a hypocrite... Even a pagan or a polytheist is not like that....
The World Arrogance [referring to U.S.] invests to make the
mosques deserted. Your revolution started from the mosques... Be
aware!...
Even though in a forty some year-old country of Israel there has
not been any history of assassination, its No. 2 man is killed easily.
But the rest are blind and do not learn. They saw Saddat's story
[assassination] and did not learn. They saw this [Rabin's assassination]
and do not learn....
