No Difference Among Election Candidates, Tehran Radio, April
16

        Today Khamenei, in a gathering of military commanders
said: ...Today the Iranian people still trust the faithful, the
faithful deputies, the religious leaders.... But this does not mean
that some charlatan might not be able to use propaganda and
create confusion....
        The foreigners, falsely divide the Iranian people. The
divisions that the foreigners make are false. They say that
some groups are rightist, some are leftist, some are traditional,
some are modern. These are all preposterous words made up
by the foreigners....
        Labels such as left and right and old and new are nothing
but fables. These groups just do not exist....


Iran Leader Blasts U.S., Israel, Reuters, April 16

        NICOSIA - Iran's supreme leader on Tuesday blasted
Israel as "malicious" for raids on pro-Iranian Hizbollah
guerrillas in Lebanon, saying the United States was "evil" for
backing the Jewish state.
        [The state-run Tehran Radio quoted Khamenei as saying
that: This is the first time that the world of arrogance, under
the leadership of filthy and spiteful America, not only refuse to
support a liberation and freedom-seeking movement (the
Hizbollah) ..., but they also rebuke them....
        [The American president and the U.S. ruling apparatus,
instead of telling their wicked lackeys, the Israelis and the
Israel's head of state, to show restraint and kill less people,
attack Hizbollah and the people of Lebanon...]

Israel Blames Iran for Renewal of Lebanon War, Dow Jones

        JERUSALEM - Israel is blaming Iran for the new round of
warfare in Lebanon.
        Israeli officials say Tehran's Islamic regime is arming,
financing and training Hezbollah in an effort to kill the Arab-
Israeli peace process....


Iran War Games With Gulf Arabs Not Likely, Reuters, April 16

        KUWAIT - Iran has proposed holding joint war games
with Kuwait and other Gulf states to boost regional security, an
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said on Tuesday....
        Gulf Arab exercises with Iran, a regional superpower and
the Gulf's most populous country, would be unprecedented and
a major success for Iran's efforts to wean Gulf Arabs off
military dependence on the West, diplomats say.
        But any such cooperation would be unlikely while
territorial disputes persist between Iran and the United Arab
Emirates over three small islands in the south of the waterway,
they said....


Tank's Fall Causes Casualty In Tehran, Iran Zamin, April 10

        The Iran Zamin correspondent reported from Tehran that
a tank, transported by a military truck, got loose and fell off
the truck, killing and injuring 15 people....
        Immediately after the tank's fall, Revolutionary Guards
surrounded the area and tried to disperse the people, however,
due to the heavy traffic the guards did not succeed....
