Mullahs' Terrorism in The Middle East, Radio Israel, May 27

        In its latest issue, the Lebanese weekly Al-Sharaa quoted
informed Lebanese sources who are in contact with Iranian
government's agents as saying that the Islamic government's
Intelligence and Security Ministry and other security forces of
the Islamic government have trained members of Arabic groups
in order to carry out political assassination in the area.
        According to Al-Sharaa in the terrorism plan of the
Iranian government, several groups from Sudan, Lebanon, Egypt
and other Arab countries participate....
        According to Al-Hadath weekly, published in Jordan,
during the Cairo summit two weeks ago, terrorists dispatched
by the Islamic government intended to assassinate Hosni
Mubarak, King Hussein and Arafat....


Friday Sermons in Iran, French TV, Channel 1, May 25

        The Friday prayer of May 10th at the Tehran University
follows an unalterable rule: The women are separated from men
by a partition.... Rafsanjani personally performs the sermon
while holding a machine gun, which is the symbol of militant
clergies.
        The sermon, directly broadcasted to the nation, deals
greatly with the Lebanese situation. It is a chance for the
followers to chant their favorite slogans: Death to America,
Britain, Zionists and enemies of the revolution.  It has been a
while that France is not one of the honorees....

        Last Saturday at Tehran's Vali-Asr circle, the Basiji militia
forces gathered to observe the last day of the "Ordering Virtue
and Prohibiting Vice" week.
        The paramilitary group chanted slogans against "Western
culture and its internal promoters" and demanded wearing
head-to-toe cover by women as the "superior Islamic cover."...


Insecurity in The Cities, Iran Zamin News Agency, May 27

        Fearing the government repressive forces, most women
try not to leave or go far from their houses in Tehran.
        In Moghan area, the body of a woman was found brutally
mutilated, according to reports from Iran.
        In Shiraz, wielding a large meshedi, two members of the
mullahs' regime security forces wearing official uniform, chased
an innocent pedestrian....


Use of Addictive Drugs on The Rise-Regime's Top Police, Iran

        In a seminar about illicit drugs, the commander of
regime's disciplinary forces stated that the use of drugs in the
society has increased....
        In order to obtain financial support from the international
agency, until now the officials of the regime have denied the
existence of catastrophic proliferation of addictive drugs in Iran
and spoke about the successes of the regime's bodies in fighting
the spread of the drugs.


Carpet Exports Decrease Sharply, Agence France Presse, May 28

        An Iranian official announced the export of Persian carpet,
during the last year, has declined about 40 percent compared to
the previous year.
        According to IRNA, Hossein Orouri, the government official
in charge of hand-made textile products, said that from April
1995 to March 1996, the export of carpet has resulted in $986
million loss....
        Export of carpets constitutes 40 percent of the non-petrol
exports of Iran.
