Today, the National Council of Resistance of Iran announced that the Belgian Parliament adopted a resolution urging the government of that country to "take without delay vigorous diplomatic initiatives in the EU, to rapidly revise the European Union's critical dialogue with the government of Iran." The Committee emphasized that the policy of "critical dialogue which was undertaken with Iran more than three years ago has not achieved any tangible improvement in Tehran's attitude and policy as it regards terrorism and respect for human rights which continue to be violated in Iran." Mr. Massoud Rajavi, the President of NCR, applauded the courageous initiative by the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.... Irritations in Bonn-Tehran Relations, Reuters, June 11 BONN - Iran's ambassador to Germany said on Tuesday that Bonn, sometimes accused by the United States of getting too close to Tehran, had in fact yielded to U.S. pressure and could do much more to improve ties.... Despite British and U.S. criticism, Bonn maintains what it calls a "critical dialogue" with Iran. But there are irritations, above all surrounding the trial of an Iranian and four Lebanese for the murder of three exiled leaders of the Iranian Democratic Party of Kurdistan (DPK-I) and their translator in Berlin's Mykonos restaurant in 1992. Germany's federal prosecutor angered Iran last March by issuing an arrest warrant against Iranian Intelligence Minister Ali Fallahiyan on suspicion of ordering the attack.... Clinton Supports Bahrain Over Mullahs' Plot, Reuters, June 12 MANAMA - U.S. President Bill Clinton has sent Bahrain a message of firm support over an alleged Iranian-backed plot to overthrow the government by force, the Gulf News Agency (GNA) reported on Wednesday. "Reports that Iran has trained and financed Bahrainis to carry out a coup in Bahrain should be taken seriously. I have always condemned Iran's support for terrorism and sabotage and its attempt to interfere in other countries' affairs," the official agency quoted Clinton as saying in his message.... "I would like You to know that the United States fully supports Your government and sovereignty and safety of Bahrain's territories," he told Bahrain's Emir Sheikh Isa bin Sulman al-Khalifa.... Bahrain said last week it had foiled a pro-Iranian plot to overthrow the government and install Islamic rule.... Can't Afford Graves, Iran Zamin News Agency, June 10 In the first two months of the current Persian year (March 21 to May 21) 2,560 unidentified bodies were buried in Tehran's main cemetery, Behesht-e Zahra. In most cases, the bodies belong to victims of automobile accidents, suicide or drug addiction who belong to destitute families that cannot afford to pay for graves where their loved ones are to be burried. "Higher Education", Mullahs' Style, Tehran Radio, June 11 In realizing Khamenei's guidelines for Islamization of Iran's universities ... the Deputy Secretary of Culture and Higher Education said that after Khamenei's orders, the Staff Headquarters for Islamization of Universities ...was formed and has been functioning since August of 1995. The Headquarters has studied the bases for gathering of Islamic sources for the universities, scientific education using the Islamic sciences, comprehensive indoctrination of various layers of university staff, creating a suitable atmosphere, dominance of Islamic cover in the universities and proper propaganda. Velayati's Request Rejected by Arab Countries, Radio Israel, June 11 Iran's Islamic government's foreign minister ended his two-day visit to Damascus while Arab diplomatic sources said his request for having a summit of the leaders of Islamic countries to replace the summit of Arab leaders in Cairo was rejected. Iran's state-run news agency quoted Velayati upon his return to Iran as saying that: considering the region's delicate situation, the necessity for having a summit of Islamic states is very much felt.
