[According to Al-Hayat, a Palestinian intelligence report which disclosed the visit, said that the delegation traveled to Iran to consult with Ali Khamenei, which controls the group....] Iran's Naval War Games In Gulf of Oman, Reuters, October 22 Iran's navy on Tuesday ended a series of war games in the Gulf of Oman, state-run Tehran radio reported. It quoted a navy commander as saying air and sea units and teams of divers had successfully completed the four-day maneuvers... in the Gulf of Oman, south of the oil-rich Gulf waterway's only entrance. The war games in Iranian coastal waters off the port of Chah Bahar had started on Saturday, the radio added.... Iran Produces "Islamic" Dolls, Computer Games, Iran Zamin News Agency, October 22 In order to fight the "Western cultural invasion", Iran's clerics will produce their own style of dolls and computer games. The "Islamic doll", named Sarah, will be produced to stop import of the famous Barbie dolls, which are quite popular in Iran due to their beautiful and colorful clothing, according to Agence France Presse. Sarah, which is to be produced by the state- owned Children Cultural Promotion Center, will wear the long cover, chador, which covers the doll from head to toe. Mullahs had earlier described Barbie dolls as "satanic" due to their "destructive beauty". To prevent distribution of Western computer games, Iran will produce "Islamic" games in which Iran's "Islamic planes" will target and destroy American planes. Iran's Industries "Seriously Threatened", Radio Israel, October 21 Executive director of Iran's largest detergent producing company said due to adverse economic situation and lack of foreign currency, the production of several detergents is faced with serious problems. Today, the executive director of Pakan company told Salam daily that Iran's industries are faced with serious problems. He added that the cost of many basic materials needed for the operation of factories in Iran has increased by 50% during the last 30 days.... He added that the significant reduction in people's purchasing power is in contradiction with the government's so-called policy of eradication of poverty.] Strong Earthquake Expected But Not Prepared For, Swedish Radio, Farsi Program, October 19 The director of Iran's seismologic agency, Ghafoori Ashtiani, announced that half of Tehran's buildings will be destroyed should an earthquake with a strength of 7 Richter scale occur. He said that in the next 10 years, a strong earthquake in Iran is expected with a possibility of 70%, thus it is necessary to take the reinforcement of important buildings seriously. Ghafoori Ashtiani complained that he had provided the government with a proper plan three years earlier but the government has not yet enacted the regulations for reinforcement of Tehran's buildings.
