Iran's Rocket in Hands of Hezbollah, The Associated Press, 
November 6   
 
	Iran has produced a long-range rocket and Western 
experts believe Hezbollah guerrillas are using it against Israeli 
forces and their militia allies in southern Lebanon, according 
to Jane's Defense Weekly. 
	The 240 mm artillery rocket has a range of more than 
25 miles, the magazine reported Tuesday. 
	In September, the Israeli military said Hezbollah...had 
acquired a powerful new rocket system with a range of 27 
miles. 
	Jane's -- an international authority on weapons 
systems -- said it obtained a brochure from the Iranian defense 
industry with photos and details of the unguided multiple 
rocket system called FADJR-3.... 
	By comparison, Jane's said, the most widely used 
unguided rocket in the West, the U.S.-designed Multiple 
Launch Rocket System, has a range of 20 miles. 
 
 
Rushdie "Will Be Killed" By "Children of Khomeini", Radio 
Israel, November 5 
 
	In it's tonight's issue, the daily Keyhan warned 
Europe again that she [Europe] must understand that one day 
Rushdie will be executed in the hands of a Muslim.... 
	The daily explained its point by saying that even if the 
leaders of the Islamic government sign revocation of Rushdie's 
death edict, this commitment and signature will not have any 
value.... 
	Keyhan continued: We don't know with what 
language should we make the European supporters of this 
filthy element Salman Rushdie understand that children of 
dear Khomeini, who are spread all over the world, will not let 
any signature prevent them from fulfilling their divine duties.  
	Keyhan concluded that the Islamic movement for 
carrying out the historic death edict of Salman Rushdie is a 
holy movement that will continue and will only end by the 
death of the heretic author. 
 
 
German Official's Visit to Tehran Condemned, The 
Washington Times, November 6 
 
	Iran and Germany will try to remove "bilateral 
obstacles" between them, Radio Tehran reported yesterday 
after a meeting between...Velayati and a senior German 
Foreign Ministry official, Peter Hartmann. 
	"All obstacles relating to the expansion of bilateral 
relations shall be removed in every respect," the radio quoted 
Mr. Hartmann as saying. He added that Germany was opposed 
to Iran being isolated. 
	Relations between the two countries have been 
negatively affected recently by a criminal trial in Berlin, in 
which Iran has been accused of masterminding the 1992 
assassination of four Kurdish-Iranian opposition figures in a 
Berlin restaurant, the Mykonos... 
	An Iranian opposition group based in Germany 
yesterday condemned Mr. Hartmann's visit to Tehran. 
	"Shaking the hands of the criminal leaders of this 
regime runs counter to the highest interests of the Iranian 
people," a statement from the National Council of Resistance 
said. 
 
 
China May Cancel Proposed Sale of Nuclear Facility To Iran, 
The Washington Post, November 6 
 
	The Chinese government has suggested in recent 
weeks that it may be willing to cancel the proposed sale of a 
sensitive nuclear facility to Iran...according to senior U.S. 
officials. 
	Washington has been trying for months to persuade 
China to halt its proposed sale of a so-called "uranium 
conversion facility" to Iran.... 
	...Chinese officials recently told the IAEA 
[International Atomic Energy Agency] and U.S. nuclear 
industry that the deal is off, ostensibly because of Iran's 
inability to come up with the necessary funds.... 
 
 
Poverty And Women's Role Model, Tehran Radio, Nov. 1 
 
	Jannati [a powerful mullah in the Council of 
Guardians] addressed Tehran's Friday prayer: There are many 
women in our Islamic society today, who do not afford a 
dinner for their family. They do not afford fruits, at any 
season. They do not afford to by a piece of cake for their 
children. They do not have any place to live, no place to stay.... 
	Everyone faces much ups and downs in his life, 
illnesses and troubles, paralysis and poverty... Yet at all these 
stages, women must keep in step with their husbands. This is 
the model. Woman should never get mad at her husband, 
never. She should not hurt him or make him discontent. A 
woman must bear with all the problems of her husband. 
 
 
Cruel And Inhuman Punishment, Reuters, November 6  
 
	An Iranian man convicted 12 times of stealing was 
punished by having the four fingers of his right hand cut off, a 
newspaper said on Wednesday. 
	The daily Keyhan said the amputation was carried out 
at the Tehran criminal police headquarters on Tuesday....
