Iranian people's resounding negative response reflects mullahs' illegitimacy

Despite all the ploys by the religious, terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran to force the citizenry to take part in the Parliamentary election farce, until 1:00 PM, local time, the overwhelming majority of the polling stations in Tehran and other major cities were deserted and extensively boycotted.

In a television address transmitted Wednesday and Thursday nights via satellite for Iranians in and out to the country, NCR President, Mr. Massoud Rajavi, called on the people of Iran to fully boycott the mullahs' election sham.

Information by hundreds of on cite resistance reporters, indicate that hundreds of polling stations in north, south, east and west Tehran were deserted and on the average less than 10 people showed up to register their vote. For example, stations 22, 93, 94, 102, 177, 180, 277, 414, 449, 450, 468, 485, 487, 513, 521, 534, 576, 605. 608, 609, 613, 648, 1169, 1170, 1171, 1286, 1452, 1453, 1700, 1719, 1808, and 1838 in Tehran were totally deserted.

In other cities, including Rasht, Shiraz, Mashad, Tabriz, and Kermanshah, the situation is the same. In polling stations at Farhang high school, art faculty, Somayeh school in Rasht, stations 28, 139, 165, and 167 in Shiraz, stations 215, 217 and 258 in Mashad and stations 215, 219, 277, and 305 in Tabriz were totally deserted.

The regime has ordered the soldiers and the military personnel to go to the voting stations in civilian cloths to increase the turn out.

To thwart any protest action, besides the state security forces, more than 180,000 Guards Corps members, the Bassij and the army's ground forces have been deployed across the country. In Tehran, special anti-riot Guards Corps personnel have been stationed at major thoroughfares and intersections.

On the eve of the elections, the mullahs' regime intensified their terrorist actions against the Iranian Resistance to boost the morale of its demoralized forces. Last night, a Mojahedin member Mr. Hamed Reza Rahmani, was gunned down by the regime's diplomat-terrorists in Baghdad.

The National Council of Resistance warns of possible air strikes or missile attacks against the bases of the Iranian Resistance along the Iran-Iraq frontier and assassination attempts on the lives of the Resistance's activists abroad by the regime simultaneous with the election farce.
