Mullahs blatant blackmail

The advent of the Sharm el-Sheikh Conference and the mullahs' continued material and moral support for terrorist activities throughout the world has necessitated the need for a decisive approach to this regime. Simultaneously, the clerical regime's foreign ministry spokesman while dragging his feet in taking a position against the recent criminal explosions in Israel, brazenly called on the European Union to adopt serious measures against the Iranian opposition.

In a transparent ploy which reflects the mullahs' fear of a global condemnation, the said spokesman accused the Iranian opposition of engaging in terrorism against the regime's interests and Iranian nationals. These comments come just a few days after a series of assassinations of the Resistance's activists abroad by the clerics' hit-teams, including the February 20th assassination in Istanbul of Mrs. Zahra Rajabi, a member of the NCR, and her colleague, the cold-blooded murder of two Iranian Sunni clergymen in Karachi, Pakistan on March 4 and the assassination in Baghdad of a Mojahedin member on March 7.

Doubtless, the placating policies of a number of European countries has emboldened the clerical regime - the fountainhead of terrorism - to take such an outrageous stance. This has prompted the regime to resort to outright blackmail. Instead of offering replies to their terrorist and subversive conduct, the mullahs are demanding that European countries impose restrictions against Iranian dissidents.

As the NCR President Massoud Rajavi stressed in his telegram to the heads of states attending the Sharm el-Sheikh Conference, the Iranian people and all those victimized by the Khomeini regime's terrorism the world over, demand an end to any appeasement of the mullahs' religious, terrorist dictatorship, particularly the policy of critical dialogue, and the adoption of firm and binding decisions, and specifically trade sanctions against this regime. Hoping or bargaining for an oral condemnation of terrorism by the regime will lead nowhere and will only offer it a respite to escape international sanctions and an open arena to pursue its maneuvers and deception.

The Iranian people just Resistance which has to date offered 100,000 martyrs to the cause of democracy and political pluralism in Iran, has always and categorically condemned terrorism and the murder of innocent people in any form and under whatever pretext. Accusing a Resistance movement, which enjoys the support of the vast majority of the Iranian people, of terrorism pursues no aim other than tarnishing the image of this legitimate Resistance and paving the way for political and economic rapprochement with its international interlocutors.
