An Internal Report from Khomeini Regime

"Mullahs' Delegation Is All by Itself" and "Resistance Hinders Its Activities"

In the conclusion of the first week of the formal session of government delegations in the Women's Fourth World Conference in Beijing, Tehran's delegation sent a report to the offices of Rafsanjani and Khamenei, complaining from its isolation and other straits in Beijing. "If we accept the Beijing's document, we will face one problem, if we don't, we will face another. It is a two-sided blade. God help us," the report by the mullahs' delegation reads in part.

Referring to the paradox the mullahs' misogynist regime faces in the conference to defend women's rights, the confidential report says in one place: "They bring up matters that are totally unacceptable for us and we can reject and refuse signing them by referring to the laws of Islam. But there are a series of issues, like equality, which we cannot make up any excuses for. They cite human rights and equality of men and women which are kind of difficult for us and we cannot implement them in the Islamic Republic... We are really alone in the Beijing conference."

One of the characteristics of the mullahs' delegation which has attracted much attention and reported by the press, is the conspicuous presence of men. The report explains this: "Our delegation was very strong when we arrived... All of the men were supposed to direct things from behind the scene. But the circumstances developed such that Taskhiri had to enter the scene and take things in his hands." Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, deputy minister for guidance and "Islamic" culture, is a mullah who also heads the Khamenei office's apparatus in charge of the exportation of fundamentalism.

"We will not accept to agree," the report adds on the regime's reaction to the adoption of the Platform for Action by the Women's Fourth World Conference. "We will manipulate the rules and regulations to postpone its ratification." According to reliable reports from inside Iran, the mullahs' delegation in Beijing everyday reports to the offices of Rafsanjani and Khamenei and receives guidelines.

The Iranian Resistance's delegation began its activities simultaneous with the opening of the NGO-Forum, seeking to expose and undo the mullahs' ploys to impose fundamentalist viewpoints and expand their repression to the international platforms and conventions as part of its objectives. As for its success, the regime's report writes: "Of course, the Foreign Ministry's efforts to prevent the Mojahedin's admission to Beijing were unsuccessful, and they had a very active presence among the non-governmental organizations... They were active and frank, conveying their positions to foreign delegations and not losing a moment in disseminating adverse propaganda against the state..."

According to the confidential report, the Resistance's activities were effective: "They hinder our efforts and create much disturbance. Their goal is to control the meetings... Since they are Iranians and speak of revolutionary Islam, they enjoy the support of some countries who oppose us."
