Pro-Compulsory Veiling March: A New Step in Escalating General Repression in Iran

Tehran witnessed a state-backed demonstration against women, yesterday. The regime's Guards marched in downtown Tehran. Chanting slogans, they terrorized ordinary people.

According to the reports of the news agencies, the demonstrators declared the objective of their demonstration to be clearly an expression of "abhorrence" from women who do not observe the state-dictated dress code.

One of the regime's officials told the Agence France Presse: "Women who do not obey our recommendations.... must be suppressed."

These suppressive measures obviously indicate the mullahs' preparation to launch another campaign of extensive arrests of women in the upcoming weeks and months.

Condemning the anti-human and misogynous policies of Iran's ruling mullahs, the Iranian Resistance draws the attention of international human rights organizations and relevant authorities to the increasing wave of suppression in Iran, urging them to take immediate and practical measures to protect the most fundamental rights of Iranian women.
