MEPs urged not to travel to Iran

Despite the opposition of the European Popular Party, two British MEPs will be going to Iran upon the invitation of the mullahs' regime. The EPP announced that the visits are private and the two parliamentarians do not have any group mandates.

The news created an uproar at the European Parliament. The mullahs' religious, terrorist dictatorship takes advantage of such arrangements to conceal the repressive state in Iran and its export of terrorism abroad. In this case, too, the regime intends to portray the situation as if the EP is no longer concerned about the violations of human rights in Iran.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran condemns the mullahs' abuse of such visits for propaganda and calls on the members of the European Parliament to refuse giving such opportunities to the regime.

The Khomeini regime had extended invitations to many more members of the European Parliament, sources say. Most MEPs, however, turned down the invitations.
