NCR strongly condemns EU's placating of mullahs

The National Council of Resistance of Iran strongly condemns the European Union's projected agreement with the religious, terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran on the criminal fatwa to kill Salman Rushdie and the Union's giving in to the regime's schemes.

According to international news agencies, the mullahs have only promised not to carry out the fatwa on the European soil. By reaching such a disgraceful agreement, the Troika delegation has obviously sanctioned the regime's official persistence on upholding the fatwa and enforcing it outside Europe.

This is not the first time the criminal rulers of Iran have resorted to such deceitful maneuvers to evade international condemnation. Experience has proven that this illegitimate regime does not abide by any principles. The recent negotiations with the Troika delegation will not keep the mullahs from dispatching terrorists to Europe and hiring non-Iranian agents to carry out terrorist operations including the assassination of Salman Rushdie.

The EU's repugnant collusion and its practical acceptance of the regime's claims as to the "divine character" of the edict "according to Islamic principles," will only embolden the mullahs' export of terrorism and fundamentalism, and their blackmail of the international community. This will be interpreted as a green light to continue and step up the violations of human rights inside Iran and the assassination of the Resistance's activists abroad.

Mr. Massoud Rajavi, the President of the National Council of Resistance, has repeatedly emphasized that the anti-human fatwa for Rushdie's murder is contrary to Islam and the message of compassion, liberty and tolerance of this great religion. Iran's ruling mullahs are the worst enemies of Islam and Muslims the world over.

The agreement between the European Union and the Khomeini regime also faces the opposition of some of the European countries. It does not enjoy the support of the public opinion and parliaments of European countries who have on many occasions expressed their desire to impose arms and oil embargo on the regime.
