NCR condemns pressuring of Iranian asylum-seekers

The National Council of Resistance of Iran condemns the Turkish police's attack on the Iranian asylum-seekers who are on hunger strike.

The NCR supports the Iranian asylum-seekers in Turkey and sympathizes with their hunger strike. Noting that their health and security are on the line, the NCR calls on all the international human rights organizations and especially the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees to facilitate and expedite the transfer of these asylum seekers to countries which are signatory to the Geneva Convention.

In the years past, a number of asylum seekers have been extradited to Iran by the government of Turkey, leading in many cases to their imprisonment, torture and execution. The case of these refugees has turned into a major scandal for the mullahs' regime. Solely tasked with terrorist and espionage activities against the Iranian refugees and opponents, the regime's embassy in Ankara issued a statement on November 3 and falsely claimed that these asylum seekers will face no problems should they be returned to Iran. The regime thus tried to prepare the political grounds for the deportation of these refugees to Iran.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran warns Turkey against the regime's conspiracy and holds that government responsible for the safety and security of the Iranian asylum seekers.
