Mr. Rajavi urges Iranians to boycott mullahs' illegitimate presidential elections

Mr. Massoud Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, called on the Iranian people to boycott the sham presidential elections by the mullahs' illegitimate regime on May 23. His message was broadcast nationwide by the Resistance's radio, television and satellite network.

Mr. Rajavi said that the clerics' desperate scheme to promote this ridiculous show was doomed to fail. He stressed that, as in previous cases, the Iranian people would ignore such masquerades. These preposterous maneuvers cannot overshadow the political funeral for Rafsanjani and his inevitable removal from the highest executive post in the regime, the NCR President noted.

Mr. Rajavi said: This development is the biggest schism within the clerical regime as it enters its final stage. It is a fatal political blow which will split a large part of the forces that make up the regime. The development also reflects the political bankruptcy of all the advocates of the myth of moderation by the remnants of Khomeini's medieval regime.

The NCR President reiterated that these elections, much like other election shams by this theocracy, was absolutely illegitimate and that NCR considered all the candidates for these "elections" as traitors to the Iranian people's most important and fundamental right, namely the right to national and popular sovereignty.

Stressing that there was no doubt as to the overthrow of this regime by the National Liberation Army of Iran, Mr. Rajavi added: The Iranian people's increasing support for the Resistance's President-elect, Maryam Rajavi, and the growing wave of young Iranians joining the ranks of the NLA have brought ever closer the prospects for the establishment of democracy and freedom in Iran.
