Preparing for further clampdown on public

The Khomeini regime announced last night that it had intensified ten folds the punishment for productions, concealment, trafficking, sale and purchase, and maintenance of the equipment for the production and use of drugs.

These tougher punishments are a blatant preparation to step up the atmosphere of terror and repression to confront the escalation of popular protests.

In the past years, thousands of people have been imprisoned or executed under the pretext of drug trafficking or addiction. Those executed included a large number of political prisoners.

It should be noted that the main networks of smuggling and distribution of drugs are controlled by some of the highest officials of Tehran's clerical regime.
