Public hangings

The mullahs' anti-human regime announced yesterday that 11 more persons had been hanged in public in various parts of Iran. This brings to 45 the number of public executions since Khatami became the president.

The mullahs routinely use public hangings to terrorize and intimidate the public and prevent spread of popular protests. Continued executions among other things clearly indicate that nothing has changed inside Iran and that Khatami lacks both the interest and power to initiate any reform in this medieval dictatorship.

The Iranian Resistance draws the attention of international human rights organizations to the persistent and flagrant violations of human rights in Iran and urges their intervention to put a halt to these executions.
