Mullahs step up suppression, execution and extrajudicial killings

Fearing rising public discontent, mullahs' inhuman regime has stepped up suppression, executions and extrajudicial killings.

An Iranian residing in France by the name of Jalali, who had received a letter of pardon from the mullahs' embassy in Paris, was arrested by Intelligence Ministry agents several days after his return to Tehran, during his daughter's wedding ceremony and taken to an unknown location. The Intelligence Ministry told his family the next day to go to the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery to pick up his body, which was badly tortured, with his teeth broken and his faced swollen and bruised as the result of beatings.

In another case, an Iranian engineer who had recently returned to Iran from the United States was arrested in late August by the State Security Forces in Isfahan, following a quarrel with his neighbor, a Revolutionary Guards officer. A week later, his family was informed that he had been buried in a garden. Officials asked and received a written commitment from his family not to divulge the case to others in return for telling the family where the engineer was buried.

Also in Isfahan, Intelligence Ministry agents attempted to arrest a 25-year-old man on August 30. When the man was able to use a rare opportunity to escape from their grasp, the agents pursued him and open fired from behind, killing him instantly. Intelligence Ministry agents transferred his body to an unknown location.

In another development, state controlled dailies reported on Saturday, August 22, the hanging of four men, including an Iranian-Armenian three days prior on Wednesday, August 19.

The new wave of extra-judicial killings and announced executions which has reached 260 during Khatami's presidency, show clearly the extent to which claims about the "rule of law," "civil society" and welcoming Iranian expatriates' return to Iran are baseless.

The Iranian Resistance urges international human rights organizations to condemn the new wave of suppression and execution in Iran.
