Statement No. 2
- Councils' elections completely boycotted in Kurdistan and western Azerbaijan

Reports until 2:30 p.m. (local time) from polling stations in Tehran and other cities, 6.5 hours after the start of the voting, indicate that the polling stations are deserted, Mojahedin's Command Headquarters in Iran reported.

Reports from Iranian Kurdistan say that the election was completely boycotted by the people in this province. In polling stations in the cities of Orumieh, Mahabad, Sanandaj, Boukan, Piranshahr and other cities in Kurdistan and western Azerbaijan provinces, only a handful of voters showed up.

All candidates nominated for this election sham are affiliated with the regime's criminal factions and have declared their belief in and commitment to the principle of velayat-e faqih, (absolute supremacy of clerical leadership) which totally contradicts a representative government.

In the past few days, cities in Kurdistan were the scenes of intense clashes between tens of thousands of people on the one hand and the Guards Corps and security forces on the other. A large number of people, including 13-year-old female students were killed. Intelligence Ministry agents arrested more than 2,000 people in Sanandaj, alone.
