Statement No. 4
- By delaying announcement of election results, clerical regime is setting the stage for astronomical rigging in the vote count

Mullahs' Interior Minister Abdolvahed Moussavi-Lari and the head of the councils' election headquarters announced today that election results will be announced between one week to 10 days from now. Previously, the regime's media had quoted Interior Ministry officials as saying that the results would be known within 48 hours.

The unusual delay in announcing the results comes as in recent days, the regime had launched a propaganda blitz about utilizing a computerized system and an expeditious vote count. The delay is designed to rig the number of votes and increase the voter turnout in the elections. This time, however, much more time is needed for rigging the results because the polling stations are extremely scattered around and number of candidates are much higher than before.

Reports from Tehran and other cities indicate that as the voting period is drawing to a close, the polling stations continue to be deserted. Reports from within the Interior Ministry say that the regime's officials are shocked over the nationwide boycott.
