Iranians hold 90 demonstrations and sit-in protests worldwide
-Maryam Rajavi praises Iranians' world-wide rallies in solidarity with Tehran uprising

In the wake of extensive student demonstrations and people's uprising in Tehran that have shaken the very foundations of the clerical regime in the past week, supporters of the Iranian Resistance have held 90 demonstrations and sit-in protests across the world from Washington DC to Sydney and from Toronto to Rome. The thousands of Iranians in these demonstrations strongly condemned the bloody and savage suppression of antigovernment protests on the orders of Khamenei and Khatami.

Iranians all over Europe and North America ended their sit-in protests today with a message from the Iranian Resistance's President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi. Mrs. Rajavi praised the Iranians who have expressed solidarity with the uprising by students and the people in Iran. She said: "These days in the demonstrations and protests by our nation's students against religious dictatorship you have been witnessing another manifestation of the Iranian people's relentless quest for freedom and democratic rule. The Iranian Resistance has vowed to achieve these goals."

The Resistance's President-elect added: "When Khatami appeared on the state television to vow personally to suppress the students' protests and the popular uprising in Tehran and other major cities, he fired a coup de grace at his entire demagogic show of reform. The whole world is now watching the political demise of Khatami. The mullahs are on their last legs. To achieve the establishment of a free, democratically-elected and accountable government in Iran, I call on every single one of you to offer your support to the Resistance."

In the largest of these demonstration, 12,000 Iranians participated in a rally outside the U.S. Congress on Friday to express their solidarity with the courageous protests and uprising in Iran and declare their support for the Mojahedin and the Iranian Resistance. Two distinguished U.S. senators and four members of the House of Representatives from the Democratic and Republican parties addressed the rally and spoke in support of the Mojahedin, while condemning the mullahs' regime.

Thousands of Iranians in dozens of other countries also held demonstrations and sit-ins and called on the UN Secretary General and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to dispatch an international fact-finding mission to Iran to investigate the state of more than 10,000 people arrested in the past week and probe into the number of demonstrators killed or wounded in these extensive demonstrations.
