Revolutionary Guards Brig. Gen. Farhad Nazari wounded in attack in Tehran

Revolutionary Guards Brig. Gen. Farhad Nazari, one of the most notorious commanders of mullahs' security forces and the "butcher" of Tehran students and residents, was wounded after being shot in Tehran's Kurdistan Street at midday today, the Mojahedin Command inside Iran reported.

Nazari, the former supreme commander of State Security Forces (SSF) in Greater Tehran, commanded the bloody attack on July 9, 1999, by security forces on Tehran University's student hostels.

Intelligence Minister Ali Younessi announced last October that Nazari was "on the target list of the Mojahedin's operational units." (Kayhan daily, October 1, 2000)

Nazari joined the Revolutionary Guards from the outset of mullahs' rule and quickly rose in the mullahs' murder machine to become a Guards division commander. In 1995 and 1996, he was the security forces commander in Ilam Province and committed numerous crimes in the suppression and execution of the people, particularly Mojahedin supporters.

Nazari was rewarded for his crimes and in 1997, he was appointed the deputy commander, and later the commander, of State Security Forces in Greater Tehran.

The mullahs' regime relieved Nazari of his command after the bloody assault on Tehran University students, in a bid to let the steam off in the explosive situation in universities. But at the same time, he was decorated with military medals and given flying colors for his "services".

A show trial set up later to try Nazari and 17 other infamous agents of the SSF acquitted all the defendants and aroused a public outcry, particularly in universities.
