Following Rafsanjani's trip to western Iran, mullahs dispatch truck-loads of weapons and ammunition to Iraqi Kurdistan

During the last two weeks, the clerical regime's intelligence and terrorist organs have markedly intensified their activities in the Iraqi Kurdistan.

Simultaneous with Rafsanjani's late-July trip to western Iran, commanders of the Guards Corps' Hamzeh and Ramazan garrisons, including brigadier Mohammad Karami, the Ramazan garrison's commander, and brigadier Javad Jafari, the garrison's intelligence chi ef; brigadier Abdulreza Mesgari, commander of Nasr garrison in Naqadeh and brigadier Shahla'i, commander of Zafar garrison in Kermanshah, departed for the Iraqi Kurdistan.

The dispatch via the border in the Marivan region of trucks loaded with weapons and ammunition, including different types of missiles, began on July 20.

In addition, officers from the Pasdaran (the Guards Corps) have held frequent meetings with the heads of local tribes in the southern Suleimaniya region to secure their cooperation. To this end, they have either offered enticements and given hollow promis es to, or intimidated and exerted pressure on, tribal chiefs.

Reportedly, the regime's Intelligence Ministry has put the implementation of a significant number of terrorist schemes and operations in the Iraqi Kurdistan and other regions of that country on its agenda.

In recent weeks, the regime has tried to complete the information it needs through renewed activities by its intelligence bases and agents in routes in northern Iraq which lead to the bases of the National Liberation Army of Iran. To this end, the regime' s agents have been stationed in the Iraqi cities of Kifri and Kelar. Using binoculars, video and photo cameras, they have undertaken reconnaissance missions.

In another development, while in Hamedan, western Iran, Rafsanjani announced that the work on the "Karbala-Tehran" expressway that passes through Hamedan, Kermanshah and Ilam provinces and reaches the Iraqi border via the cities of Qasr-e Shirin and Ilam, has already begun. He described it as an "important expressway."

After briefing local authorities, Rafsanjani departed for Tehran on July 20. He was seen off by Ahmad Khorram, Governor of Hamedan, and brigadier Ansari, the commander of Hamedan's Nojeh air base.

Alarmed by the extensive political and social advancements of the Iranian Resistance, the regime constantly intensifies its military and terrorist conspiracies against the Mojahedin and the National Liberation Army of Iran.
